Help Misty fight Breast Cancer

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Neecy, I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my best friend Misty Apala.

on January 14th, 2023 she found a large lump in her left breast, and after testing it was confirmed that it was HER2-positive breast cancer.

The cancer is no longer in the duct portion of her breast and has dropped into the tissue area, and with the size of the tumor, Dr.s have decided to do a double mastectomy on April 3rd.

They will also perform a procedure called a sentinel lymph node biopsy to remove 3-5 lymph nodes to see if it has spread. They did an original biopsy on both the tumor and lymph node, however, the lymph node came back inconclusive We know that there will be treatment after surgery, but until Oncology gets the pathology report we won’t know the complete specifics of the treatment.

I know my friend she is a Boss Babe and trust me she is going to go back to work before she even should. My goal is to make sure that while she is recovering, she is not stressing about financial responsibilities for herself or her family. I need her to focus on herself, her health, and a full recovery. I know she will not ask for help that’s why I am doing this.

I know she has a lot of people who love and support her and many of she has supported herself. So I feel like we can come together to help support her during this time.

Update on 03/20/2023

The journey has come down to two weeks to surgery day. April 3rd.......

It has been the longest path from January 14th, the day I found the lump, to two weeks before a double mastectomy. The unknowing of what is to come after surgery has been the hardest part of this process. The mental drain of why's and what if's.

Trusting God in the process and surrendering daily and sometimes momentarily is my peace with a lot of deep breaths.

I received parts of my preop blood work back last week and it all looked good considering. Praise God. My white cells are down and my anemia is kicked in and my body's ability to fight infection is lowering a little less than last month's blood work. My b12 needs to be boosted so I have started taking a supplement for that.

We are still waiting on Liver and Kidney panels to come back. Pain in my armpit and the side of my breast began to bother me a little. I am believing its the tracers from the biopsy.

It is hard to process that I will be down for such a long period. It is the slow season for heating and air, and my day job is amazing I was approved off for after surgery for recovery, however without pay. That creates a fear of the travel and hardship it places on my family.

I m grateful for all that God has given me and I continue to pray and believe through this journey.

April 3rd at 7 am I check in to the Cancer Center in Oklahoma City. They will begin the injection of radioactive dye and scans to see the travel path of the tumor and lymph node system at 7:30 am. They have the mastectomy surgery scheduled to begin at 10:30 am and reconstructive surgery to begin immediately following that.

I have my first follow-up and prayerfully drain tubes removed on April 14th with the surgeons.

I have my next Oncology appointment on May 1st to go over the treatment plan from the Pathology report from surgery.

I know right now that it is a Hers2+ and due to this being hormone-fed cancer, I will be on hormone therapy daily for a minimum of 5 years.

The lymph node biopsy originally done was not valid therefore if it has spread is still in the air until surgery and the long-term treatment plan will be as well until I set in front of the Oncologist on May 1st. I am believing this day they will say it was completely removed in surgery and not spread and there will be no need for anything but hormone therapy, No radiation, and No chemo. Please join me in praying for that holistic removal during surgery.

Though I stay exhausted the majority of the time, honestly I feel a supernatural energy that keeps me moving... Only God

Looking forward to today, tomorrow, and the future,

Misty
