Save Kathy & Joe’s Forever Home!

My mother, Kathy, has never had an easy or stable life. She was a single mother with little education and questionable dating choices. - Love you mom!- So when she met Joe when I worried for her. He was much younger and different than anyone else I had seen her with. Turns out, young and different were exactly what she needed.

20 years ago he gave her heart a home, and since then, has been working toward giving her what she's always dreamed of. A home that she could grow old in. Three years ago, they build their forever home together.

In September, they both were hospitalized with Covid.

Mom got to come home. Joe, sadly, passed away in the ICU on 09/28/2021.

SSG Jose Lozano is a retired Iraq Veteran.  He deployed multiple times to both Iraq and Afghanistan.  After retiring from the Army, he became a licensed LMT so he could help other Veterans recover from combat related injuries.  He taught at the Massage School in Killeen. And he even joined his wife in starting an online clothing business.

Like many people in their early 40s, death seemed like tomorrow's problem. Today's challenges took precedent. Life insurance was tomorrow's problem...after all, he was so young. No one anticipates leaving their wife behind.
Kathy still has a long road to recovery ahead of her. She is home now, but on an oxygen machine 24/7. Her tubing doesn't even reach to the room where they ran their online clothing business which is now her only source of income.

We need help! Joe wouldn't want for her to lose the one piece of stability he was able to leave her with. Please help me pay off her mortgage so she can continue to live in the home he build for her!

Here are some words from their realtor, Lisette Flecha - copied from a heartfelt post she made on Facebook after Joe's passing.

"I’ve had many colleagues over the years tell me stories of how they have lost clients to death whether due to an illness, something crazy, or just old age. I never thought I would lose a client, and then it happened. As realtors, we can get attached to certain clients due to certain circumstances, especially while building a home. It’s many months of calling each other, or texting each other regarding the status of the property, and sometimes just to check up on one another during the build process and even after closing. This sweet couple closed on their first and their forever home just three years ago. I remember when we met, they told me of how it was their dream to build their forever home. Since then, they sent us the referrals of their friends/co workers. While on our anniversary vacation, we learned that they were both hospitalized for a month due to catching Covid and we kept updated as they posted on Facebook.
She was just released a few days ago, and then her husband took a bad turn and got intubated. Yesterday, he went home to be with our creator. Jose Joe was a retired US Army Veteran, a licensed masseuse and he also worked for KISD. He loved serving his country, but more importantly, he loved people and he especially loved his wife Kathy. She was his everything and all he wanted was her happiness. When he wasn’t working his other jobs, he helped her with her home business which was selling women’s clothing by doing live videos on social media. I can see images in my head of him dressing up to show the ladies how a lot of the clothes would fit, without a care in the world-he was secure in his manhood, lol, and he was so funny! Our hearts go out to Kathy and her family as we lift them up in prayers for peace and comfort. Never take life and the ones you love for granted. I’ve always said I want to be loved while I’m here, and not cried for when I’m gone. Rest In Peace, Sir. "

"So today is a little bit of a tough day. I found out today that my good friend Joe Lozano passed last night due to complications with Covid. Yes it does suck that his is no longer on this earth. Yes I feel for his family and all the lives he touched to include my own. His wise words will be missed in the future. I feel as if I have 1 less person in this world that truly got me and clicked with me. Ssg Lozano, as I knew him, was a happy man. So I choose to remember his as such. That being said I am glad to see he is no longer fighting for his life and can rest in peace. I am not saying I am glad he is dead because that couldn't be further from the truth. That man was a God send to all he touched. His wise words, honest rebuttals and kind heart will be missed by the countless people he worked with, beside and for. . .
Jose Lozano, as a representative of the United States Marine Corps It would be my honor and pleasure to share the title on Marine with you. As someone who has earned that title I can honestly say you deserve it my friend. You stool tall, laughed hardy and had a ferocity that no man could shake. You loved Kathy like no other and were always there to help a friend in need if you could. I know I have no legal authority to grant you this title officially. But, with that being said, you will always live in my heart as a fellow Marine. Until Valhalla SSG Lozano. Ooh Rah! And Semper Fidelis my brother. . . Guard the gate my friend. One day we will all make it to you for those amazing meals you loved serving. IGY6; . . . out "

There are countless messages like these from so may people that this man has touched throughout the years. From the men and women he served with, to the students he taught at the massage school. He did so many things for so many people. Lets please get together and take care of the one person he values above all. My mother, and his Wife Kathy.
