My Wheelchair Fund

Donation protected
Dear all,

As many of you know, I have a series of medical conditions that affect my everyday life which have caused me to have to give up amazing, fantastic jobs in teaching, tutoring, music making and put a hold on or cancel many of my future career dreams, outside adventure dreams and wishes, sports and playing of instruments. The symptoms that make these things very, very painful and sometimes impossible, include (amongst others):

. Regular joint dislocations and extreme joint pain
. Early on-set osteoarthritis
. Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome
. Costochondritis

It is extremely difficult to ask for help with financing a proportion of the cost of a wheelchair, as it means accepting that things will never be as they were. However, having a wheelchair will allow me to limit my daily dislocations, conserve energy, improve my overall wellbeing and give me the option to go out for both leisure and work.

My dream is to go back to full-time work, but since my 2 back breaks last year in October and December, I no longer have the energy, stamina or ability to control my pain and manage to teach in a classroom. This new chair, (an Argon Active - (Ergonomic) will allow me to build up again the things that I've lost, hopefully to a degree where work and passions can again be realised. Not only is this chair ergonomic, thus providing the support that I need for my spine, but it can go on grass which means that I could go back to the Buttercups Goat Sanctuary to volunteer, as well as continue volunteering as Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens.  It has a very light-weight frame which I will be able to put in and out of my car, a spinal support backrest and is measured perfectly to accommodate my regular left shoulder dislocations, with easy-use breaks (used often for those with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) and anti-shock design in order to protect my spine from further damage.

The overall cost of the chair with appropriate changes, is over £6,000. However, our incredible NHS pays for a very large sum of this, leaving me with the amount of £1,250 to pay. If I were working full-time and fit and well or had the means to afford this without putting myself in great financial strain, I would not be asking for your support greatly appreciated support. It would be just amazing if you felt able to contribute any amount at all towards this chair; I am extremely grateful to you already for reading this.

Thank you very much,
