Chris & Lisa are a married couple in their early 40's both with Multiple Sclerosis. They have been forced to live in an aged care nursing home as there is not enough funding for them to remain in their home. Their house is all set up ready for them to return to, they just need funding to pay their bill at the nursing home otherwise they will be forced to sell their house. Any additional donations will go towards 24 hour initial care whilst waiting for the government to update their ISP so they have appropriate supports.
This dedicated team of supporters in the above photo are tirelessly working toward assisting Chris and Lisa's return home.
Chris & Lisa met and fell in love around 10 years ago. Lisa already had developed MS when they met, however she was still mobile and they led a full and happy life. Four months before they were married, Chris was also diagnosed with MS. This did not stop their love of life, family and friends. They celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary in their backyard in Ferntree Gully where they suprised everyone and renewed their vows.
Over the years, Chris has become Lisa's primary carer, assisting her with all her daily needs. Lisa's health has deteriorated to the point where she can only be out of bed for a few short hours each day and some days even this is too much for her. Chris is now wheelchair bound and although they were managing for the few years they had together, it became too much for Chris. About six months ago, they both had a time in rehabilitation and were then moved to a nursing home.
Since being moved to the nursing home, both Chris & Lisa have deteriorated, especially in their mental health and returning home with a dedicated team of carers is their dream.
They urgently require almost 24 hour support to stay in their home.
