My name is Cat. Today I was faced with one of the hardest decisions I didn't think I would have to make. I had to choose between a life and money.

Our dog, Akira, had to be taken to the vet hospital due to the severe bleeding down there when I woke up this morning. I prayed that it was nothing serious and something that could resolve itself or with medication. I prayed that it wouldn't be a decision of choosing to save her or not due to costs as she didn't have insurance.

Life would have it that I was faced with that exact choice. She was diagnosed with pyometra, the worst of the diagnosis, which is a severe infection of her uterus. We had a choice of doing an emergency surgery or she would go home and eventually die from the infection.

The price they gave me for the surgery was close to $7k at best or $8k at worst.

It was a lot of money that I didn't have and I didn't know how to make a decision like that for us by myself. She was a family member as we've had her since she was 8 weeks old. I sat in the room in tears for hours trying to come up with a decision that was impossible to make. I didn't know what to do or how to make such a decision. And even now after making the decision, I still don't know if it was the right one. All I know was I could not say no and just let her die when she is still full of life and I could save her. She is normal and healthy in all other areas except for that infection, and I could not say no.

Many might say that she would have to die and just get another dog, and I may have said the same had I not been put in the predicament of choosing.

So now with a bill of $7k to pay, I'm here to ask for your help, generosity, and kindness. Anything you can give would be appreciated and would help with paying the bill. We truly thank you for your generosity.
