Teresa’s Kidney Transplant
Donation protected
I am fundraising for her much-needed kidney transplant. The emotional burden of such a life-changing surgery is more than enough to deal with and we would love to be able to ease the financial burden. The need for a new kidney came very unexpectedly and things are moving quickly. We want Teresa to be able to focus on preparing for, undergoing, and recovering from this without worrying so much about the large financial strain (insurance covers a lot, but there will still be a large outstanding balance for such a big procedure). We would so appreciate any and all support friends, family and strangers are willing to give to help Teresa my mother through this time. Please note surgery will be on February 13, 2024. We have very little time to raise funds. Please share with others. Thank you!
In Teresa's Words below:
"Those of you that know me, know that I have had some medical issues in the past with my heart surgery in 2016. Healing took a while. You probably notice that I do my best to deal with them on my own and try to live the best life that I can moving forward...with occasional complaints. You will also most likely know that I don’t typically ask for help from others and I don’t typically talk about what’s going on in my life outside of my small group of close friends and family. I now find myself in the position where asking for help and talking about what’s happening in my life could actually save my life. I implore to you all to kindly take the time to read and share my story. I have end stage kidney failure and have been on dialysis for 2 years now. It has not been easy. I remember when they 1st put me on that machine and I watched my blood pump through the hoses as tears ran through my face thinking this will be life till I die tied to a chair 3 times a week for 3 hours not being to travel anywhere freely like before. I have days where I just start vomiting, pressure drops to 80, I get dizzy sometimes I have even passed out. Also really bad cramps on my legs pain is so bad when to much fluid is taken out of my body.
The cause of my kidney failure was not controlling my blood pressure. Not being able to afford meds or insurance.
I am blessed that my boyfriend has offered to be my donor and he is a match. He is my rock my hero. Since he is my donor he will also not be able to work for sometime. Right know he is head of household since I haven't been working for 2 years"
Our goal is to raise money for medical expenses, because as we would all suspect, this surgery comes with wildly costs, weekly visits to the doctor’s, weekly lab tests and 10- 12 extra medications in order to ensure a smooth recovery, both physically and psychologically. I also need to hire home care assistant which is not covered by insurance. I will need a home care assistance for at least 3 months.
I am making an appeal to human kindness and compassion. Any small donation will help enormously. Thank you! God Bless!
