It's that time of year again when I announce the themes for my annual trees for the DSOSN ( Downs Syndrome of Southern Nevada ) festival in honor of Fred Gaddy.
How is this year different from the past 11 years ?
Well this time, I am also announcing that I will be honored at the Festival of Trees Gala as the community inspiration leader of the year. Just to say it out loud is surreal. The honor is not only humbling but has inspired me to reflect on all the trees YOU (my friends, family, and community partners) have helped me create over the years. I am hoping to share this honor with each of you in a way I haven't in years past. Not only will I have a chance to mention your efforts in a speech at the Gala, we will also be documenting the process and offering special donation incentives over the next couple of months. We need all the help we can get to make this the biggest year yet. It will be hard to top last year, but I know we can do it.
With that being said, we will be creating two very special trees this year. Each will be a refection of the efforts that have been made by the people who inspire me. The people who truly make a difference. We are calling them inspiration trees.
One of my biggest inspirations is my children and this year they have taken it upon themselves to create a tree on their own . My son Brody Walters is responsible for tree #1 . He has picked a Harry Potter theme. Brody has his own unique vision for his tree (see attached picture) and has already started working on his creation. We have also attached his wish list for items he would like to add to his tree. Feel free to be inspired to contribute to what is going to be one of the best trees of the festival.
Tree #2 is inspired by late uncle Fred Gaddy, He has been my inspiration since the very beginning. This tree will be themed "Flourish," which is not only the name of my company, but the core to my own personal inspiration. I believe we all have to nourish our mind, body and spirit to be able to Flourish. Fred's spirit nourishes me every year to Flourish and create a display that will make a difference for the the DSOSN.

- Volunteer! It is a great way to help. You can help us create the trees, volunteer at the event or even participate in our craft nights.
- Purchase tickets or become a table sponsor for the Gala. We are looking for sponsorships. This year the gala is at Treasure Island and we are hoping for a big turn out.
