Hi friends!

My name is Danielle, I just recently found out that I need brain surgery to remove a non-cancerous tumor that has been growing next to my pituitary gland for the last four years. I've been dealing with extensive medical issues and mystery symptoms for years now, and have been trying so hard to put all the pieces together and help my doctors and specialists find the root cause. I've gone to endocrinologists, neurologists, migraine specialists, physical therapists, my primary care doctor (and more) and have had MRIs, CT scans, EMG muscle tests, nerve conduction studies, many blood tests, and more to try to figure out what's been going on.

The tumor is called a pituitary adenoma and I'll be getting a Transsphenoidal Hypophysectomy to remove it. Pituitary adenomas cause hormonal spikes and dips and can cause migraines, vision problems, and more if not taken care of. My latest tests show that my growth hormone, IGF-1, is elevated and causing my bones to grow and my joints to be in pain all the time. This is also the reason my arm and legs experienced extremely painful nerve symptoms after getting the second dose of the vaccine and having an inflammatory response. I've also experienced debilitating migraines and had a low level headache everyday for at least the last four years. It's been a lot of work and super challenging at times to get doctors to take me seriously and to find root causes for my symptoms. I'm so happy I finally have a diagnosis and treatment to hopefully improve my symptoms.

Fortunately, the surgery is covered by my insurance, and so far, I won't have too many out of pocket expenses. Unfortunately, I will have to take time off from working to prepare for and recover from the surgery. Both my parents will be flying out to Hawaii to help me through the surgery and recovery. The money I raise will help with their plane tickets, rent, food, gas, and any other expenses related to the surgery. I'm working hard to pick up work before and after the surgery, but also want to make sure I can easily recover without stressing about money. Any and all support is greatly appreciated!
