Fundraiser for Yeshey Namgyal-Survived Stabbing
Yeshey Namgyal and Recovery
Yeshey Namgyal at the Bellevue Hospital 6/26/21.
An award-winning filmmaker, a sports enthusiast, and a devoted social worker. Yeshey
Namgyal is a very hardworking and determined individual. He has achieved numerous
recognitions at the national level in the field of film production and social services, and his
the biggest prize at the international stage was the Plural+ Insight Film Festival Award 2014 in
New York.
Yeshey was living his dream in Bhutan, and he worked very hard to support his family and his dearest seven-year-old daughter. However, he was still facing financial hardship. Worried
about his daughter’s education and future more than anything else he moved to the United
States.
Community-Based Scouting of Bhutan.
Yeshey was so happy to be working in New York as he was able to support his family back
in Bhutan and save for his daughter’s education.
As our future is unknown, on the way back home after work Yeshey was stabbed by a
stranger into his neck. He is partially paralyzed, he suffered “left side complete decreased sensation and right lower extremity paralysis.” Yeshey is undergoing rehabilitation and receiving treatment at the Bellevue hospital in New York.
Elmhurst Hospital 6/7/21
Yeshey has no relatives in New York. Now, a group of us are only providing him moral
support and dropping him homecooked Bhutanese food at our convenience.
Doctors said that it will cost Yeshey a year and a half to recover from the disorder and live a
normal life. He will be located at home soon and he will have to bear the entire cost of his physiotherapy
and livelihood. In addition, he is more worried about his family and daughter’s livelihood back at home as he is the only bread earner.
We would like to request everyone to help Yeshey with his continuing treatment and a
comfortable recovery.
