On the evening of August 5, my sister Rachel’s home went up in flames due to an electrical fire after the hurricane.
She, her husband, and their two children, lost everything. They weren’t home when the fire started, so they were left with only the clothes and shoes they were wearing that day. However, this also means that they are all, thankfully, alive.
We watched until nearly 4am as their home in RI, full of almost 10 years of memories, the home both of their children grew up in, burned down.

My sister is an essential worker who has been working on the front lines in the medical field. She and her husband Shawn work so hard and are such loving parents to their two babies. In her limited spare time, Rachel was graciously making masks for free when the pandemic started, along with making many items for my wedding next month. She has been spending the past few years in general building an Etsy store of amazing children’s clothes. This was all destroyed - her sewing machines, her fabric, her entire Etsy store’s stock... gone. They have all lost their clothes, shoes, toys, crafts, toiletries, just everything.
They are such an amazing, kind family who have always helped family and friends in need at the drop of a hat, so I ask that you please give any amount you can to help them get back on their feet. If you’re unable to give, that’s okay! Just sharing this fundraiser alone would be immensely helpful.
Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and compassion!
