What?

Snails on a Bike Theatre Co. is raising funds for our upcoming production of Dry Land by Ruby Rae Spiegel. The play follows two high school swimmers: Ester is trying to stay afloat, and Amy is curled up on the locker room floor. Dry Land is a play about abortion, female friendship, resiliency, and what happens in one high school locker room after everybody’s left.

We are so excited to share this honest, intimate, and deeply human story about young women and their bodies. Our site-specific production will be set in and around a pool, allowing our audience to smell the chlorine and feel the tiles beneath their feet as they get to know these two girls keeping each other from sinking.

Who are we?

We are Snails on a Bike, a new theatre collective made up of young Chicago artists (as well as your local baristas, bartenders and servers). We could not be more excited to have this chance to create the work we're passionate about!

Where would your donation go?

We are so grateful to the Lawrence House and Heritage Bikes and Coffee for allowing us to use their space and supporting us in bringing this production to life! We are asking for your help to get us all the way there. Donations will cover the cost of rights for the play, publicity materials, props and costumes, and contracted artistic support (intimacy direction, graphic design etc.). Any remaining funds will be distributed among the artists after the production, as we firmly believe that young artists should be paid for their work.
