Drunk Driving Victim: Eliza's Recovery from Crash

Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to open this link and reading our friend Eliza’s story.

Eliza is a 24-year-old Armenian international student who graduated from St. Olaf College in 2021. She is a healthcare worker in the Twin Cities, MN, USA. She is also a United World College (UWC) Mahindra alum (‘17). As many of you may know, being an international student in the US, away from everything familiar and all family is not an easy experience.

Recently, on her way to another night shift, an exit away from United Hospital, a drunk driver drove in the opposite direction of the interstate freeway (I-94) unfortunately crashing into 6 cars, one of which was Eliza’s.

The crash was devastating leaving her with spinal injuries, a neck hernia, a Hematoma and entirely too much pain. The result: short-term disability following the accident, not to mention the psychological, emotional and financial toll it took on her and her loved ones.

Drunk driving is lethal and irresponsible behavior that endangers not only the driver but also innocent individuals on the road. Tragically, many have fallen victim to the devastating consequences of drunk driving. An event like this disrupts life in every way possible and to help Eliza we created this fundraiser to carry with her the financial weight that comes with the medical procedures, totaled car and recovery costs. The driver at fault is uninsured. This means though NONE of this is Eliza’s fault the WHOLE cost of this falls upon her. While the true number of what is required is much beyond what this fundraiser is aiming to achieve, we wanted to start with a goal of $9000!
