DRRSD Fall Activities

Hi..My name is Jamie Jones from Dighton MA. and my children are students in the DRRSD. We are trying to raise money so that the students of Dighton-Rehoboth Regional H.S. might have the chance to participate in extracurricular activities this school year. Our goal is to look out for the students that are in the school system now while the leaders of our two towns find a solution to their financial differences. Many kids look forward to these activities as part of their regular public school education and for some it is what drives them to be better students. We hope that the money raised is enough to pay the fees needed to get the school registered with the different organizations for the upcoming school year before deadlines have passed. This would hopefully allow for these activities/sports to be available this school year. This is not an attempt at trying to make these activities fully parent funded so that they don’t have to be part of the overall budget. We are just trying to keep hope alive for current DR students who live and breathe these extracurricular activities. We will try to do what we can to help carry these kids until cooler minds prevail in our towns and the budget is finally set. We hope the leaders in our two towns can work to fix the current problem at hand while they figure out how to make sure we are not in this same situation year after year. Trying to do both of these things at the same time is not easy but it’s the right thing to do.

These funds are only to try and keep the door open so the students/parents would be able to self fund their sports or clubs for the fall/spring. A budget will need to be passed in order for these activities to be funded as they were in the past. Otherwise it is up to each team, club or activity to figure out how to fund themselves through the year. I will try to eventually link this account to the school so they can withdraw the funds themselves but if that does not work I will do it myself and hand them a check.
