Kim's Story in The Modesto Bee
As most of you have heard by now Kim has been battling West Nile Virus. Although She has had symptoms for almost a year, she was diagnosed 9 months ago. And as you read she was really close to losing her life. Kim is strong and has continued to fight and push through her recovery process. Although this process has had its highs and its lows Kim continues to show us signs of her old self every day. Like her beautiful smile, her loving sentiment, and of course a little bit of her sassiness. Despite what the paper read, Kim CAN speak. She understands everything going on around her.
When Kim came home in the spring her parents and I worked day and night as her home care team. As my schedule became more full it has been only her parents working tirelessly day and night to care for her. Kim’s parents, Betty and Aubrey are from the bay area. They left their home 9 months ago to be in Modesto to care for Kim and her son Kristian. Since Kim has been out of work for so long, her colleagues have been gracious enough to donate some of their sick time. But as you know medical expenses and home care costs are continuously increasing. At the suggestion of friends, we have decided to start a go fund me account to assist Kim and her family with some of these costs.
We understand how much Kim meant to all of you and you mean just as much to her. Kim would be so appreciative and thankful to you all. On behalf of the Kennard Family we want to thank you all for your continued concern, love, support and of course your prayers. Your Kindness does not go unnoticed.
Much Love, Respect and Gratitude,
Erica Gomez
