300 MILES IN 30 DAYS - MAY 1 to 30 2022
Donation protected
Following the massively successful 'Railway Family Prize Draw' in 2021, which raised £8000, organiser Natasha Hanson has decided to get on her bike and cycle 300 miles in 30 days to raise some much needed cash for two fantastic and important charities.
Joining Natasha will be Heather Waugh. The two joined forces in 2021 to raise money in a variety of ways, from dressing up, to a team walking event and, of course, the incredible Railway Family Prize Draw.
This time, they have chosen Shelter and CALM as the charities to support.
Shelter:
- HOME IS EVERYTHING - We exist to defend the right to a safe home. Join us in ending the devastating impact the housing emergency has on people and our communities"
And CALM - the Campaign Against Living Miserably who say:
- "...standing against feeling shit, standing up to stereotypes, and standing together to show life is always worth living. Stand with us. Join the campaign and help us make sure everyone gets the support they need, no matter what."
Natasha Hanson on the choice of Shelter:
"The reason I've picked Shelter is because I believe that no one who needs and wants a roof over their head should be forced to live on the streets. People don't choose to live like that. Circumstances have dealt them the hand that finds them living outside in all weathers. It prevents them having a job because they need an address, or getting an address because they need a job. We are ALL a bereavement, a job loss, a rent hike, an unexpected bill, from ending up on the streets. And I think that is wrong in 2022"
Heather Waugh on the choice of CALM:
"Mental health affects each and every one of us, and yet remains a subject that we fear talking about, or seeking help for. No one would expect you to stay quiet if you suffered chest pains, or if you found a lump. And we need society to start addressing, and supporting, mental health in the same way."
