Driving for a Cure: The Two Ball Romania Rally for MND
Donation protected
This year, from the 28.08 until the 01.09, I’m taking on the Two Ball Romania Rally, an epic charity road trip that’s all about adventure, creativity, and raising money for a great cause! The challenge? Driving across Europe in a bargain car—pushing it (and ourselves) to the limit over several days, thousands of kilometers, and some seriously unpredictable roads.
This isn’t your typical rally—it’s an unsupported road trip, meaning no backup crews, no high-tech navigation, just a wild route through cities, mountains, and remote landscapes. Along the way, we’ll face daily challenges, soak in incredible sights, and do it all in a car that has no business making such a journey (in our case, a VW Golf Soft Top, which we’re planning to give a Mad Max-style makeover!).
But beyond the adventure, I’m doing this for a deeply personal reason. One of my Zug Rugby Club teammates, Ben Lighting, a founding member of our touch rugby section, has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and is bravely fighting this cruel illness.
MND is a devastating disease that affects the nerves controlling movement, leaving people unable to walk, talk, and eventually even breathe—all while their mind remains fully aware. Right now, there is no cure. That’s why I’m supporting My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, the charity set up by Scottish rugby legend Doddie Weir, who fought MND with incredible determination. His foundation funds groundbreaking research and provides crucial support for those affected, working towards a future where no one has to face this disease without hope.
How You Can Help
As I push my car to its limits on this crazy adventure, I’d love your support! Every donation—big or small—will go towards funding life-changing MND research and support services.
Let’s make a difference together—join me in driving towards a cure!
