Driver's License for Former ICE Detainee

Donation protected
Dear All,
We have a friend in need of help. In fear of legal repercussions he wishes to remain anonymous. He is a lawful permanent resident of the U.S. and was unjustly detained by ICE in 2015 because an Immigration Judge wrongfully convicted him of an “aggravated felony” (a decision government has since conceded was done in error). He spent four years in ICE custody, in six different detention centers, and was recently released.
Before he was detained by ICE, our friend worked as a driver and had received three tickets for minor incidents. During the process of appealing these tickets he was detained, so the case became final and unappealable. The tickets accrued during his time in detention and he received additional charges. Now, his total debt for three tickets stands at $3,500.
When released, our friend was left without any sort of support, housing or stable income. He will be able to return to his previous work, but needs to first pay the fines he has accrued in order to have his license reinstated. We are asking you to make a contribution of any amount to help our friend pay his tickets and  get back to his job.
Sincerely,
Members of the SBU Asylee Advocacy Group
