Drive Katey’s Dreams: Help Fund a Reliable Accessible Van

Donativo protegido
Hello, I’m reaching out today to share the story of my incredible niece, Katey Stare, who is facing a challenging situation that requires your support. Katey is 29 years old and lives in Sarasota, Florida, with her loving parents. She has Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a progressive neuromuscular disease that impacts her ability to move and requires her to use an electric wheelchair for mobility. As a result, Katey needs assistance with all activities of daily living, but despite these challenges, she remains one of the most creative, determined, and joyful individuals I know.
Katey graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design with a degree in Graphic Design, and she continues to showcase her creative talents. She enjoys drawing, painting and creating graphic design projects for family and friends. Her passion for art and design shines through in everything she does, and she’s an inspiration to everyone around her.
One of Katey’s favorite pastimes is getting out into the community. She loves reading and frequently visits the local library to pick up new books—something that brings her immense joy. She also enjoys regular activities with friends, such as going to Disney, shopping, and grabbing coffee. These simple outings allow Katey to experience life to the fullest and feel connected to the world around her.
Unfortunately, her ability to get out and enjoy life has recently been severely limited. Katey and her family experienced a heartbreaking situation when her current handicap-accessible van broke down while they were two hours away from home. Struggling to find a way to get Katey and her wheelchair back home safely was a challenge they should never have had to face, but it has made it clear that the van is no longer reliable.
Having access to a suitable van is essential for Katey’s quality of life. It’s not just about getting from point A to point B—it’s about her ability to connect with others, to continue her artistic pursuits, and to enjoy the activities that bring her happiness. Without a dependable handicap-accessible van, her world becomes smaller, and her independence is severely compromised.
That’s why we’re asking for your help today. We’re starting this fundraiser to raise money for a new handicap-accessible van that will provide Katey with the reliable transportation she needs. This van will allow her to continue engaging with her community, going to her favorite places, and living a fulfilling life. The cost of a new van is significant, and we need your support to make this life-changing purchase a reality.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference in Katey’s life. Your generosity will help her regain her independence and improve her overall quality of life. We can’t do this without you, and we truly appreciate your kindness and support. All funds raised will go directly towards a new Van and any other modifications needed to help Katey reach her goal of independence once again.
Thank you for helping Katey move forward, continue to inspire, and live life to the fullest.
