Drive Emery to Safety: Save Our Car & Secure Special care
Donation protected
Our life is made up of beautiful chaos, filled with unexpected twists and turns. As a parent navigating a full-time job while parenting an autistic child , I've experienced firsthand the unique challenges and rewards that come with this journey.
My name is Heather, and I’m reaching out for help during an incredibly challenging time. As a single mother, I’ve been doing my best to provide for my beautiful daughter, Emery, who is non-verbal and suspected to have autism spectrum disorder. We are currently facing some challenging times, and I am reaching out for your support to help us overcome these hurdles.
Preventing Car Repossession
Due to unforeseen circumstances, back in June I faced the devastation of losing my full-time job, which has left me struggling to catch up on bills. Thankfully, by the grace of God I was able to secure my position back, but with the brief 4 month period of unemployment, I now face the imminent repossession of my car. Despite the glimpse of hope, each day that passes brings a new wave of anxiety as the threat of repossession of my vehicle grows closer and closer. This car is essential for us, as it is our primary means of transportation to Emery’s therapies and appointments, as well as my job. Without it, we would struggle to get her the care she needs. Your donations will first go towards preventing the repossession of our car, ensuring that Emery can continue to receive her necessary treatments and support.
Creating a Safe Environment with a Fenced-In Yard
Emery has a tendency to elope, which makes it crucial for us to have a safe and secure environment for her to play and explore. The next priority for the funds will be to build a fenced-in yard , which we got an estimate around $6000. This will provide Emery with a safe space to enjoy the outdoors without the constant worry of her wandering off, giving her the freedom to play safely.
Access to a Unique Opportunity for Specialized Care
Finally, we also have a unique opportunity for Emery to be seen by Dr. Karen Harum, MD, FAAP, founder of Clinic for Special Children in Wilmington, NC, who has special expertise in the neuroscience of learning and autism. After originally being told they were at capacity for Medicaid patients and the extensive waitlist, we were caught off guard when receiving a phone call informing us that though at capacity, Dr. Harum was making an exception as she took special interest in Emery's case when hearing about it. This provider could make a significant difference in her development and well-being. Your support will help cover the costs associated with this specialized care, including travel expenses and the one time payment of $275, which we currently do not have.
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a tremendous difference in our lives. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for considering supporting us during this difficult time. Please share our campaign with your friends and family to help us reach our goal.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Heather and Emery
