Help get "Drip" to Hollywood Fringe!

Hi, my name is Morgan McDonald and I am the writer and director for Drip, a new play that will be making its world debut at the 2024 Hollywood Fringe Festival. Drip is a one act story that explores the body and psyche’s response to both physical and emotional trauma.
The story fluidly bounces between different points in the life of a young woman, exploring the events of her childhood and the new trials she faces as a young adult. Drip is unique in that I’ve designed the intentions of the text to be completely interpretable by the team as a whole. It will be my job as director to collaborate with my designers and actors to determine what lines should be spoken, what lines should be explored through movement, and what lines should be expressed through light and sound. The themes we are dealing with are incredibly personal and intimate, it is why each artist is being empowered to discover how to make the text best reflect their own experiences and feelings through whatever form takes hold. Like water, Drip is a play that takes the shape of its environment; this means with each show produced, the show will take on a new presentation.
My journey with writing Drip began two years ago. I’ve always found deep interest in water and through my artistic practice I’ve begun to explore the ways that emotions are tied to it. It’s intrinsically tied to life experiences of myself and more importantly of others who I have had the privilege of sharing space with in my lifetime. When I began the process in November of putting together a team for Drip I couldn’t have imagined the artists I’ve been so lucky enough to collaborate with. I’m filled day after day with such immense gratitude for the folks dedicating time and creativity to helping me fulfill my dream that is Drip. Though I started Drip alone, I am indebted to the many artists and collaborators who have eagerly joined this journey. They have brought a new level of life to this project that I didn’t even know was possible. Drip is not just for me, but for the many talented artists that are devoting themselves to our success.
Success that can’t happen yet without you. The Hollywood Fringe Festival is an outstanding opportunity for independent artists like myself to receive a platform that would have otherwise been inaccessible. However, that doesn’t mean it is without its expenses. Our team has been working vigorously to gain the capital necessary to produce Drip at the level necessary for its success, now we’re asking for the help of our patrons. If we are able to raise an additional $2,000, we’ll be able to position ourselves in a way that gives us a chance to be one of the highlights of Hollywood Fringe. This money is going to be dedicated to our scenic and prop elements, in hopes that we can build a truly authentic atmosphere. Additionally, any extra funds will go straight towards bolstering our current marketing budget as we continue to generate buzz and excitement for what our show can offer.
If Drip sounds like a show you want to see, please consider making a donation. No amount is too small; any donation will result in an acknowledgement on our social media. After donating, please consider spreading the word by sharing our gofundme with your friends and family; every person who sees our page is an opportunity to get us another step closer to achieving our goals. Thank you, and enjoy Drip.
