"Driftwood Children" Album Production
Donation protected
I'm excited to announce the production of my next album entitled "Driftwood Children," which I'll be recording this May at Bunker Studios in Brooklyn, NY! This project will be my second album as a leader and will serve as my thesis project for the completion of my masters degree at NYU.
It has been an honor working on music that is so near and dear to my heart. The inspiration for this album comes from the stories and folkloric cultures of my family's native land, the Philippines. Three years ago in commemoration of the 500th anniversary of Spanish colonialism of the islands, I decided to begin researching, composing, and personally reflecting on how to honor this tragic and complicated history as an artist. With this album, I am striving to present a story that is seldom told in the world of jazz and contemporary music.
"Driftwood Children" will feature two veteran NYC artists, both of whom I've had the privilege to be mentored by: saxophonist Billy Drewes and trombonist Alan Ferber. I will also be joined by an excellent crew of my closest friends and collaborators: Michael Dudley Jr., Robert Papacica, Jared Beckstead-Craan, and Kobi Abcede.
I greatly appreciate your consideration in donating to this campaign! Recording and releasing an album as an independent artist is challenging. To thank you for your support, you'll receive a CD, a "special thanks" credit on the record itself, and content that will take you behind the scenes of the production.
Production costs include:
- Studio time
- Personnel compensation
- Piano tuning
- Mixing/Mastering
- Publicity
- Product design
- Rehearsal compensation
- CD printing
Thank you so much for your support, and I look forward to sharing the final product with you all!
