Drexel Dance Senior Project
Donation protected
Hi everyone! Our names are Grace Fisher, Aria Iuso, and India Scott. This fall we are beginning our senior year as dance majors at Drexel University. We are in the process of creating and producing our senior projects, which are required for graduation.
To do this, we have to be able to cover the cost of our production, as the university does not fund our projects. This includes but is not limited to the following costs:
Rental of the black box theater at Drexel University
- Tech usage for the theater
- Event Supervision
- Technicians
- House managers
- Compensating dancers for their work
- Costumes
Many elements go into producing a show, and we would greatly appreciate any support that can make this possible. Each of us began conducting research for our projects in June of 2023 and will continue it throughout the year.
Grace will be creating a choreographic work exploring how the Apollonian-Dionysian divide described in Nietzsche’s The Birth of Tragedy can be expressed through movement.
Aria is exploring the impacts of Bella Lewitzky in modern dance, particularly through the evolution of the Horton Technique. She will choreograph a piece through a feminist lens that is based on her findings.
India will be looking into the concept of Lesbian Existence through different forms of literature and media, as well as feminist performance art resulting in choreographic work.
All of these projects will include intense, year-long research and exploration in addition to the process of creating and producing performances.
We are all very excited to culminate our research with this showcase in June of 2024, but it cannot be done without help. We will appreciate donations of any amount as well as shares to boost our reach. We are grateful to those who can support our artistic and technical endeavors!
