In July 2021, at the age of 20, my godson, Drew Reimonenq was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He put his career and educational goals on hold and devoted all of his energy to fighting this disease. He underwent six rounds of chemotherapy. His father and friends shaved their heads to show their support for him. After chemo, Drew's PET scan showed the cancer had returned. As this was considered a "failed treatment," the road forward included more aggressive treatment. He underwent aggressive chemo treatment that required hospitalization. He now faces a stem cell transplant. He is currently receiving injections to boost his white blood cell production. On April 12, he will be admitted to Cedars Sinai for chemotherapy followed by a stem cell transplant. He will be in the hospital for a total of about 20 days. His father, Rick, has taken a two month unpaid leave of absence from work to be by Drew's side during this trying time when Drew will be in a weakened state and his mother and sister will be with him when they are able. We are raising money to cover the cost of the expense of Drew's care, of family lost income, fuel costs to and from Cedars Sinai(60 miles), and parking. Financial stress should not be part of the burden they feel. Let's surround this family with love as they fight this disease together.
