Drew’s Emergency Medical Costs

Hi, my name is Mackenzie and I’m fundraising on behalf of my boyfriend, Drew. On June 14th, Drew was hit by a truck while riding his motorcycle to work. He was working 40+ hours a week before the accident, however Drew does not have medical insurance, and his work doesn’t offer disability. Drew was at UW Health in Madison for 8 days. He had 2 surgeries and a lot of X-rays and CT scans.

While Drew is now home, he is left with a rod to fix his fractured tibia, screws in his kneecap and femur, pins to try to correct a broken finger (which still may need to be amputated in the future), and 3 broken vertebrae in his neck/back. He is in a neck brace and a splint for his leg and hand, with an estimated recovery time of 3+ months.

We are asking for help with medical bills/copays for follow up appointments/prescriptions, while we wait to see if the person who hit him will be held responsible. We would also use this money to make sure we can still pay our rent and other bills during this time. Mackenzie is still working part-time, but has had to significantly reduce her hours to help care for Drew at home.
