Hi friends and family,

We are starting this Gofund me for my beautiful friend and fellow animal rescuer Mel Harvey. On Tuesday 12th August Mel’s husband Drew died suddenly and unexpectedly. As you can imagine this has been an incredible shock for Mel and all of her family. The last 18 months has been terrible for Mel with lots of challenges and hardship. Between car accidents, hospital stays, illness, sepsis, skin grafts, issues at her home and trouble with a person renting a room in her home, she has remained strong and just got on with it. She has continued to work two jobs and long hours to pay the mortgage and bills on her home. To now lose her husband is just beyond heartbreaking and so unfair. Mel has made a huge difference in the rescue world over the years and cared for many animals, helping to rehabilitate and find wonderful homes for them. She is such a loyal friend and a wonderful human and it hurts our hearts to see her so broken. We would love to help Mel with funeral costs and anything else she might need at this devastating time.
