A Prayer for Dre,

"The Lord Jesus is Dre's Shepherd; Dre shall not want. Jesus makes Dre lie down in green pastures. Jesus leads Dre beside still waters. Jesus restores Dres's soul. The Lord Jesus leads Dre in paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Even though Dre walks through the valley of the shadow of death, Dre will fear no evil, for the Lord Jesus is with Dre, Lord your rod and your staff, comfort Dre and Sherice. You Lord Jesus go before Dre and prepare a table before him in the presence of his enemy cancer; you anoint Dre's head with oil; Dre's cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow Dre all the days of his life, and Dre shall dwell in the house of his, Lord Jesus forever. In the Name of Jesus and His, Authority and Power given by God our Father and sent by His Spirit. Amen"

In November 2019, he had just turned 9 years old. While celebrating at a trampoline park, he hit his head. His mom, Sherice, took him to the ER, and he was sent home with a concussion protocol.

Dre’s symptoms did not get better but became more severe, uncontrollable vomiting, headaches, and blurred vision. Sherice made multiple trips back to the ER, only to be turned away each time.

One day, Sherice refused to leave without answers. A doctor they hadn’t seen before agreed something wasn’t right and ordered an MRI. The results were devastating; Dre had four tumors on his brain and needed emergency surgery to remove them.

Dre has faced so much in the past six years—
multiple chemo treatments, surgeries, radiation, severe side effects, chronic vomiting, headaches, vision and memory loss, and coding multiple times.

Sherice, Dre’s mom and a single mother of three, shared:

“People don't realize what these kids are going through. One of Dre's medications burst the blood vessels in his eyes. Another raised his blood pressure so high he blacked out and he said it felt like his head was going to explode—or like his body was on fire.”

“Other treatments made him so sick he couldn't get out of bed. His chest would feel like it was collapsing, and this was after just one or two rounds, not months of treatment.”

“That's part of why his cancer is considered incurable—the treatments themselves are so toxic. People assume every child with cancer will be cured, but they don't know the long-term damage. Every chemo, every dose of radiation comes with delayed side effects, some that don't show up until six months or a year later.”

As of 2025, only about 4% of all federal funding allocated for cancer research in the United States goes toward pediatric cancer research. This is despite the fact that childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease for children and young adults under the age of 20 in the U.S.

Childhood brain cancer does not get the last word. We will not stay silent another day. Fight with us - fight for Dre.

"We desire to help bring financial relief to Sherice, so she can focus on the precious moments she has left with Dre."

Today, Dre is 14 years old and still fighting, in the final stages of his life.
He has four new tumors and six clusters that are inoperable.
Dre is deteriorating daily. His brother came to visit recently. Dre asked his mom who he was—just a day after speaking with him. His short-term memory is gone, but the smile on his face and hope in his eyes tell us, Dre is still fighting.

“I don't have anything left to give. I've spent my life giving to others in need, even while raising my children on my own and battling brain cancer with my precious Dre.
I need help. I need others to pour into me and my family.”
~Sherice

Bills over the past six years have left Sherice without the ability to provide for her family. She has maxed out all her credit cards, refinanced her home, and lives off disability, while trying to care for her children and her terminally ill son. Sherice has tried to give Dre the chance to see different parts of the world. But he is no longer able to travel.

Dre now spends his final days sleeping most of the day—because of the pain.

“He's not the same. I've never seen him this broken.
But even now, he keeps holding onto his faith—saying,
‘Gods got me. I'm healed.’
And I believe he truly did receive that word from God after he coded and came back.”
~ Mom

“But one day, I had to gently tell him,
‘Baby, I know you're standing on Gods promise, but you also need to understand—God might not heal you on this side.’
He looked at me and asked, ‘What does that mean?’

“I told him, ask God how are you going to heal me? Maybe what you heard means something different. Just talk to Him like you would talk to me—He'll answer. It might not be the answer you want, but He'll answer.’”

“A few days later, he came to me and said,
‘The only thing I'm going to miss is that his sister might not remember him.’
And I told him, ‘She will. She's going to always remember you. Because we're going to keep your memory alive—forever.”

My name is Tamsan Sirlin and on Mother's Day, 2023, I met Dre on an airplane, on a flight to Paris, France. The interesting thing is this was not the flight we booked. Our plane sat at the gate for four hours before the flight was canceled. We were put on a flight to Paris the following day. As we approached our seats on that flight to Paris, I noticed a darling family in the middle aisle of the row where we were to be seated. Sherice was there with her precious baby girl and Dre. I looked at Dre, who smiled at me and said, 'I like your Pit Vipers,' and I knew at that moment I was going to hand over my sunglasses to this adorable kid. Dre was so friendly, we started talking, and I was soon chatting with Sherice, who informed me that Dre was and had been battling brain cancer for years. Sherice was fulfilling a wish of Dre's to visit Disneyland Paris. We followed each other on Instagram and have been in touch ever since. It's no coincidence, I believe in divine intervention. God put us on that flight so that he could help prepare me to journey with Sherice and Dre during these final stages of cancer and Dre's life. He put me there so I could help them just two years later to extend the reach of the help that they so desperately need, more now than ever as Sherice is facing SIX YEARS of medical and end of life expenses for her precious son Dre.

“It is my honor and privilege to walk alongside this loving, courageous family. Their strength, their light, and their love have touched me. I am thankful to the Lord Jesus for allowing me to know and love them.”
Dre has never been cancer-free. Once a tumor is removed, another grows. As a mother of 2, I can't begin to fathom the earth-shattering news that Sherice was given about her son November 2019.

My name is Tonya – Friend, Aunt, and Cancer Fighter
“I was a cancer patient myself, diagnosed in 2020. I endured chemotherapy, surgeries, radiation—pain and suffering that's hard to put into words. So, when I met Sherice, a single mother devoted to her three children, and learned about her journey with Dre, her 13-year-old son at the time, my heart broke.”

“I understood, on a deeply personal level, the devastation that cancer brings. When I thought about Dre's small body enduring so much, I knew I couldn't just walk away. I made a choice—to look childhood brain cancer in the face and say: This mother and her precious son will not walk this road alone.”

“We need your financial support, prayers, and strength from the Lord Jesus to fight with Dre and Sherice.
