Dresden FUMC Rebuilding Effort

On December 10, 2021,  the community of Dresden, Tennessee, along with many others, was hit by a devastating F-3 tornado. Our home church, the Dresden First United Methodist Church was destroyed.  The church, with its beautiful stain glass windows  has been a mainstay in the Dresden community for almost 200 years, since 1833.  It has served countless outreach and afterschool programs.  The church members and community are heartbroken the building is no longer, however, we are so thankful no one is our small town lost a life.  The tornado was devastating to the community of around 2900.  Over 187 homes and 21 businesses suffered damage, including the police and fire departments, banks, newspaper and historical churches.  We plan on rebuilding the church and ask for your donations to help us.  We are raising funds to rebuild and carry on our mission of serving Jesus Christ in our community. Thank you for your donation and any help you can give, including your thoughts & prayers.

Last week, during demolition of the original church building, a cornerstone box was found bricked inside a part of the church that was dedicated in 1923.  The cornerstone box was unknown to many of today's church members.  The cornerstone box was carefully extracted and has been sealed in the brick foundation of the church for almost a century! Discovery Park of America is assisting in opening the box and preserving the contents.

We thank you so much for all of your donations, thoughts and prayers.
