Ryan, Kelly, and Kyler are the Drennings. Kyler was diagnosed with DIPG (Diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma) when he was 4 years old. He has had a total of five brain surgeries, over a year of chemotherapy, 30 rounds of radiation, and in the summer of 2020, Kyler was introduced to an experimental drug (ONC-201).
The family received devastating news in late August of 2020. Kyler's tumor has grown and they discovered two new tumors. The cancer is in his frontal lobe, his brain stem, and his central nervous system. The family was told they needed to contact Hospice.
Ryan and Kelly are trying to spend as much time with their son as they can to make as many memories as possible and to keep Kyler comfortable. Ryan and Kelly are no longer working so that they can provide care for their son.
In the six years that they have weathered this storm, the medical bills have piled up, they incurred more medical bills with the experimental drug in Ann Arbor, MI., and they are now preparing for their final expenditures. With both parents not working so that they can spend quality time with Kyler, the household bills are also piling up.
