Drenched in the Making

Hey there community,

My name is Caetlyn Watson and along with my friends Douglas Reddan, Onai Tafuma, Kerrie Milne and the cast of ‘DRENCHED’ - we are asking for your help and support!

In mid 2022 I was approached by Mad Dance House to direct, choreograph and curate a full length stage production using 9 of Australia’s most talented movers. ‘DRENCHED’ from a creative standpoint was birthed out of a deeply personal experience I had earlier that year and I felt that the energy of that experience needed to be utilised and transformed into something that could reach more people. Over three weeks myself and the cast worked in collaboration to build a mammoth show, to then perform it only once at The Laboite Theatre in Brisbane. The project itself was so moving for each of us involved, but equally it seemed for the audience. I knew that it deserved to be explored more, which has lead us here;

An insanely gifted friend of mine Douglas Reddan - a Cinematographer and Director from Dublin, Ireland, was in the audience and sparked an interest in turning the production it into a feature film. Nothing had ever made more sense. For me, the idea of turning the show into a film gave more room to build on top of an already powerful body of work, and create something visually mind blowing. Since chatting back in early 2023, we have finally made moves on this dream and started bringing it to life. Endless mood boards, brainstorming, budgeting, planning, we now have an epic foundation to build from, but naturally - none of this is going to happen for free.

We are all equally passionate about making sure that everyone on this project is well looked after and paid to the highest standard for their craft and expertise. So in light of that, we thought the best people to turn to for support would be our gigantic world wide community of artists and friends.

This project is an exciting step forward for movement on film and will be providing more opportunities for creatives after an extremely long dry spell due to the impact of the pandemic.
