Drea’s Lung Cancer Fight with Faith
Donation protected
Let us introduce you to one of the most gracious and giving human beings we have ever had the privilege of knowing. Aundrea “Drea” Hamilton is a wife, a mother, a daughter, a friend and a servant of God.
On December 29, 2022, after a routine doctor appointment which included a chest x-ray, Drea was informed they had found a mass in her lung. After a PET scan and a biopsy, she was given the worst news possible. It’s small-cell lung cancer and is aggressive.
Drea has been married to her husband Mickey for 17 years. Mickey is a deputy patrol sergeant for the Thurston County Sheriff‘s office and serves our community every day. They have three beautiful daughters. Haley, 16, Ayla, 14 and Bella, 11. Dre has been homeschooling them now for five years. Drea and her family are very active in their church and rely heavily on their faith and God’s love. They are members of Rochester Life. Drea is on the leadership team and serves as the children’s ministry coordinator. Last July Haley and Ayla went on a missionary trip to El Salvador. Bella went with the church to Idaho to help another church. What brave girls and true examples of God’s work. To say that this entire family is giving their life to service is an understatement.
The reason for this GoFundMe is because Drea has a huge fight ahead of her which comes with many unexpected expenses. She’s starting chemotherapy and is getting genetic testing for targeted therapy which may or may not be covered by insurance. There are deductibles, travel expenses, medications, co-pays, and supplies. Her husband is taking time off from the sheriff's office to care for the girls, take his wife to treatments and support her physically and emotionally. Once his paid leave hours are used he will be on unpaid leave.
We lovingly ask for your support for this beautiful family. Even the smallest donation helps. Thank you so very much.
March 2024 update:
The Hamilton Family needs our help. As many know Drea has been battling with an aggressive form of small-cell lung cancer that started in December of 2022. Things seemed like they were on the upswing with her cancer in remission until she started experiencing excruciating pain several weeks ago. She was re-admitted to Swedish Hospital on February 12th where they performed a bone marrow biopsy that revealed her cancer had migrated to her bone marrow. She was in the hospital for 3 more rounds of aggressive chemo treatments and has more scheduled. Drea is home now and, as you can imagine, a prayer circle is needed along with help with a few meals. There are also gift card or delivery options if that is more convenient. She has several rounds of chemo to go and is immunocompromised so dropping items on the front porch is recommended.
