Give Areej from North Gaza the chance to rebuild her life

Hi, my name is Yousra Samir from the UK and I am facilitating this fundraiser on behalf of Areej Ahmed who I know personally through my work as a journalist. Before October 2023 she was studying medicine and since then her university was destroyed (Al Azhar) along with the hospital she was training at (Al Shifaa) during the current war on Gaza. She has two years left to go and without raising enough money, she will not be able to finish university and become a doctor.

This is Areej's story:

My name is Areej Ahmed from Gaza; I began my university specialization in obstetrics at the start of 2021. When the October 2023 war started I had completed 3 years of the programme and still had 2 years to go - the programme takes 5 years to complete.



My dreams of becoming an obstetrician have completely come to a halt since October 2023. Everything in my life has been destroyed - my university, the hospital I was training at, my home, even some of the doctors I was being taught by were murdered. I have absolutely nothing left.

It is my dream to complete my university studies and be an amazing obstetrician, helping the women in my country. Please help me make my dream come true, as my education is the only thing I have left to hold onto. Without your help I won’t be able to become a doctor and help the people of my country. So many doctors were killed in this ongoing war on Gaza and the country desperately needs us to become doctors.
