S.T.E.A.M Dreams Can Come True (College Edition)
A little about me: I am the daughter of a HBCU grad and sister to a little brother aspiring to attend Morehouse College. Currently, I am the small business owner of Cook Me Up A Notch, youth/community advocate, and lifelong learner. I graduated High School Magna Cum Laude May 22. 2022 (on my grandma’s birthday), earned a dual enrollment associates degree in business administration, and certificate of completion in Culinary Arts. I’m retaking the ACT in June to hopefully increase my chances of being a debt free college student. I’ve gotten through a few ruff years with losing my grandmother, grief, and depression heightened by the pandemic, yet I continue to preserve personally and academically.
I have been accepted into some of the top schools to pursue my International Business and Finance dreams. I have chosen to attend Hampton University in the Fall. I’ve applied to many scholarships yet with many of my college decisions coming through late due to high school transcript errors, that I was not initially aware of, it knocked me out of funding from some of the earlier scholarships. After my GPA was recalculated in March, Hampton was there to offer me my first scholarship of 7,500.
So far, I have not won a substantial amount of scholarships but I’m not giving up because I haven’t come this far to not get to the next stage of my educational endeavors. So I am hoping to get some help to aid in my dream to pay for college to ease some of that financial burden for my mom and myself.
Even with my pell grant and max in student loans I’m still considerably short in funding college. Any donations will go towards anything college — tuition, room and board, and other college items needed. I do not wish for my mother to have financial burden solely on her educator and sole provider for my brother and I.
Know that I will continue to update you all on any scholarships I win along the way.”
