Greetings from Star Dance in Abiqui, New Mexico.
Star Dance is more than just a retreat center. It is a place people come to be touched by the land, and the natural beauty our Earth has to offer. It's hard to put into words the vast and surreal nature of this landscape. We are in the high desert of New Mexico where vistas never end. Being in the rawness of the desert on a mesa looking out over the canyon, means that you can see depths and color like you have never seen before. At the bottom of the canyon is a river surrounded by cottonwood trees. And there is always its namesake: the stars dance in the night sky every chance you have to look up.
We come to you today because we have spent the last 2 years attending ceremonial retreats here, and we care deeply about this place. We are a group of 14 dedicated and unique individuals from all over the world. Star Dance has changed our lives, and the lives of everyone who has ever set foot here. And we want to give back. Over this time we have come to know Star Dance well, and we see the dream of the land growing. In order for Star Dance to live up to this dream, more resources are needed.
This campaign is to raise money for a new kitchen and dining room. Our intention that with this addition, more people will come and experience this exquisite, transformative beauty.
Here is a message from the land:
I love being bathed in moonlight and when the stars sing, they are captured in my body. I am the flowering monsoon season and the hot stone sunshine. I am the morning bird song who sings awake the dawn. I am the container of all life, dreaming the healing and strengthening for everyone who needs it. My late afternoon winds scatter the seeds of healing everywhere.
I love it when the dams overflow and the waters seep into me. I love when people come here and create beauty. I love the sprouting seeds and the pitter patter of feet that walk on my back. I love being the stillness and reminding those who seek it of its power.
I dream of sustainable structures that hold and feed the people. I dream of increasing the flow to better support the trees, flowers and mosses. I dream of the flow of resource - as people, money, and water - to support the future generations of those to come. I dream of a dining room with a large table at its center for those who are hungry to sit around. I dream of a kitchen with energy efficient appliances to feed whoever is here. I dream of screen doors to keep the bird nation safe and the human nation cool during the hot summer days.
I dream of healing all the people yearning for it. I dream of you.
