Dream Street was a very important part of my growing up and still is an important program to me.
Dream Street is a five day, four night camping program for children with physical disabilities. The camp is held on the grounds of the camp I went to every summer and is sponsored by the youth group I was part of in high school.
The mission is that all children, regardless of their abilities, must be offered the chance to have fun, to make new friends, to achieve, to be accepted for who and what they are, and to learn from the challenges of group life.
Truthfully, the real learning was done by me and my friends. Throughout highschool and college we were counselors, and organizers for these children.
While I am abroad I will miss being able to return to the camp for a number of years. I want to give something before my departure. I am hoping that my network of friends and family can help me with the cause by increasing my donation. I will match the amount raised by my friends, up to the $1,000 (hoping I am forced to give the $1,000!). Rather than taking me to dinner or drinks before my departure, please consider giving a donation to a cause that means so much to me and will really impact a child's experience over this summer.
