A Dream for a Dream

~We MUST be the change we wish to see in this world~

Sawubona Bouti’s and Sisi’s! (Hello brother’s and sisters!)

This past summer I traveled to Swaziland on a short term mission trip with Hosea's Heart. Initially I thought I was going to Swaziland for a mission trip that would better my life and hopefully along the way be able to impact individuals there. To no surprise, God had his own plan for my life which was much better than my own. Don’t get me wrong, it has always been my dream to go to Africa, help those in need while leaving behind all I brought for the less fortunate and come back with nothing. What I didn’t know is that although I did come back with less material possessions from donating missionary supplies from my suitcase, I came back feeling fuller than I ever have been before. The people there often appear to have so little, but after creating a relationship with them I was able to admire them for so many reasons. To know what love feels like even though you look around and have no food on the table and only a small mud roof over your family’s head. To be so satisfied and filled with God in your life that you trust in him completely even though you had your first child at 12 from being raped by your uncle and sold by your own mother. To value the gift of life even though the majority of your friends and family are HIV positive, which eventually leads to them passing from AIDS. It only took a few days for these people to remind me what is truly important in life. God has instilled a passion for these girls & Swaziland within me. I can't imagine continuing my life without working to also make their dreams come true.

I have always dreamed of 4 things in my life: travel to Africa, work for ESPN, adopt children and run a half marathon. If you know me well, you know that I have achieved two of those four dreams this past summer and I am so excited to conquer the third as well. I can't think of a better reason to run a half marathon but to have it benefit Hosea's Heart and the young women of Swazi. But here is where YOU come in! I am looking for 26 sponsors that would sponsor a half mile of my run this April. Hosea's Heart is in the process of building a campus with new homes for the girls which will allow more girls to have the chance at safety, an education, and being filled with love. I am hoping to raise about $2,600 which would equate to about 37,000 Rand in Swazi!!

Thinking about the impact we can make together is so humbling and motivating. If you would like to be one of my sponsors, you may contact me personally ([email redacted]) and I will give you information on how to send a check since gofundme does take a small portions of donations online.   All donations and support are appreciated, no sponsorship is too small or too large. The amount of a sponsorship in American dollars can not be compared to the impact it will make in the life of a young Swazi girl.

Together, we WILL be the change. Siyabonga Jesu! (We thank you Jesus!)
