Drea's Medical Recovery Fund
In the early hours of Nov. 17th, while on her way to be with family and friends for Thanksgiving, our dear friend Drea and her sweet pup Theo, were hit, head on, by a drunk driver near Strawberry Reservoir in Utah. Drea was life-flighted out to Salt Lake City for multiple serious injuries. The love of her life, Theo, sadly did not survive the accident and passed away from injuries sustained from the crash.
As you know Drea lived for adventures and sadly with this crash, her life will not be the same for a very long time.
Her injuries include...
- Left collar bone fracture
- Tailbone fracture
- Right elbow dislocation, unable to bear weight through her entire right arm
- Deep puncture wound on her right arm that has affected her ulnar nerve
- Shattered right femur
- Broken right ankle
- Dislocated left ankle
- Fractured L5 vertebrae
She cannot have weight on either of her legs because of her femur and ankle injuries, nor does she have use of either of her arms because of her left collar bone and right elbow dislocation.
This road will be long and grueling but we know our girl is tough as nails and will fight to heal up as quick as possible to get back out there and see the world.
With her recovery process she will be incurring high medical expenses. Many of the life-flight ambulances are not covered by insurances and require payments within a small window of time from the transport. These fees can be crippling for those that require these services and are almost always unexpected expenses. On top of this she will have countless other hospital bills, on going physical therapy bills once she is released, as well as possible legal fees with a drunk driving case. Please donate what you can to help take some of the pressure off of her and her family so they may focus on her recovery.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We will post updates about Drea's progress as she continues on her journey to recovery.
