Hi. I'm Carolynne, I'm raising money for my son Dre, Kya and the unborn twins (Destiny and Harmony) that are on the way.

 

On Friday Kya was admitted to St Joe's hospital and monitored over the weekend because Harmony wasn't getting enough blood and her heart wasn't pumping properly. The babies have a huge growth difference. Harmony is growing at 30% lower rate than Destiny. They were released yesterday and we thought things were looking up. However,  Kya then had a follow up  ultrasound and it turns out that the girls are starting to develop fully, Twin-Twin Transfusion Syndrome. Twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) is a rare, serious condition that can occur in twin pregnancies. This happens when identical twins share a placenta. Abnormal blood vessel connections form in the placenta. They allow blood to flow unevenly between the fetuses. This can cause severe complications if not taken care of early enough. There are different stages and some can be fatal.

 

They caught it early so hopefully it can be treated before it gets to a critical point. Drake and Kya will be flying to Colorado tomorrow morning to see the specialists at a hospital that does open fetal surgery. This is where, if need be, they can make an incision in the placenta and kinda redirect the blood vessels to help Harmony get the nutrients and blood flow she needs.

 

Hopefully they won't need any surgery, but this is the best place for them to be if they do.. They have their tickets to get there and the Ronald McDonald House will be housing them. They will need expenses covered while they are there, Dre isn't able to work while they are there and they won't be able to gather the things the twins will need when they arrive either. They also will need help getting back home to Arizona.

The kids worked really hard to get into affordable housing and saved money so they were set when the babies come with a place for them. They will likely lose their spot in the program that helps with the income scale, too. But right now we're just worried about getting the girls safe, and getting them all home.
