Help Dr. Brisbon with ERAS & Step 3
Donation protected
My name is Dr. Jonathan Lee Brisbon, and I am humbly asking for your support during one of the most critical transitions of my life.
I recently graduated from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and will begin my preliminary general surgery residency in July. As a stage III nasopharyngeal carcinoma survivor and the first doctor in my family, I have overcome extraordinary odds—losing my father after my first year of medical school and completing my education with no financial safety net.
Now, just weeks away from starting residency, I’m facing another challenge: securing stable housing near the hospital. I currently live 90 minutes away from the main hospital, and some of my rotations will require a commute of over two hours—an impossible burden during a demanding surgical residency. Couch surfing is not sustainable, and I cannot safely or realistically commit to this workload without nearby housing.
I’ve applied for four different loans to cover moving expenses and rent, but I’ve been denied each time—largely due to my credit score and the fact that my father, who once co-signed for me, has passed away.
My first paycheck won’t arrive until mid-July, and in the meantime, I need to secure an apartment and cover weekly groceries. Every dollar—whether $5, $10, or more—will go directly toward rent, moving costs, and essential needs as I begin this journey.
This is my sincere plea: I have no other options. I’m asking for your help so I can enter residency with the stability needed to care for others. Your support—whether through donation or simply sharing this campaign—means more than I can ever express.
Thank you for believing in me and helping me get one step closer to my dream of becoming a surgeon.
With gratitude,
Dr. Jonathan Lee Brisbon
