Drax was my first foster kitty after growing up with and around dogs. The rescue told me he was on daily meds to keep his environmental and food allergies at bay in addition to his special diet. Due to his medical needs, the shelter was not a place for him.

Drax was my buddy. He loved cuddles and headbutts, and needless to say, I got attached.

After months of multiple adoption events, Drax got adopted from @mountpurrnon in May 2024. His new owner was a recently retired gentleman who also chose to adopt a senior kitty so Drax would have a friend. I was bummed, but so grateful that Drax found a home and an adopter who was willing to take on his health challenges.

Fast forward to March 2025. I was notified that Drax’s owner passed away. Unless a foster was found to take care of Drax and his allergies, he would have to go back to a cage

I fostered Drax for a few weeks, then I ultimately decided the adopt him. The universe brought my first foster kitty back to me.

Unfortunately, it’s been one thing after another with Drax ever since. Inner ear infections, URIs, swollen eyes, 2 rounds of full dental extractions in 4 weeks, and stomatitis! Just wait there’s more - funky bloodwork, red/white blood cells in urine and an ear polyp (which is giving him a cute derpy head tilt).

In spite of it all, Drax is still his lovable self and deserves to feel his best! I’m doing all that I can for him. He’s still a cuttlebug and clings to you when you hold him like a koala bear. His health issues do not reflect his ripe young age of 5.

His vet bills are getting a little out of control and there’s really not an end in site. I’ve spent over $6,000+ on his health care to date. He needs to see an internal medicine specialist and the consultation alone is costly, before any additional testing and procedures. Lemonade pet Insurance denied his claim for stomatitis which is autoimmune. I’m very nervous they are going to say his polyp symptoms fall outside of my coverage period
