This GoFundMe is set up by Marie Sydnor, wife of Drake Sydnor. Drake and I had just celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary before he unexpectedly made his final transition. Drake and I met in 2010 and within a few months, I knew he was the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. Drake was a true man of God and believed that with faith and prayer, anything is possible. He always had a word of encouragement for whomever crossed his path and was ready and willing to pray for them with no questions asked. He has a daughter (Jasmine, 18) from a previous marriage that he loved dearly. In his spare time, he loved to go to the movies and spend time with his family and fur babies Mambo, Moe, Bailey, and Ellie.
Drake and I were best friends and we truly had a lot of fun together over the years. He was my Batman and I am his wonder woman. At times we felt like big kids trapped inside adult bodies. He was so playful on our last vacation, he played in the ocean for 2 hours straight, longer than most of the kids there. I am a preschool teacher so he couldn't wait for an event where he could show up dressed up as his favorite superhero.
On June 30th, the worst thing imaginable happened. We were in our living room about to play a card game with family from out of town when he began to cough a little. Moments after that he complained about being hot and before his sister could hand him a bottle of water, his body started to go into convulsions and he passed out and became unresponsive. I immediately called for 9-1-1 and started to perform CPR. Minutes later the EMS arrived and Drake was rushed to the ER. I arrived at the hospital minutes later but had to wait almost an hour before receiving life changing news. Never in a million years would I have expected that the doctors would come back to tell me that my husband didn't make it. I was in complete shock knowing that I would never see my husband alive again. June 30th, was truly the worst day of my life because that is the day I lost my best friend.
Because his passing was unexpected, we could not fulfill our plans to prepare for this moment. I am asking for your help to give my Batman, my King of Hearts, my best friend, the homegoing celebration he deserves. The funds will go to pay for funeral costs and related expenses. Any remaining funds will be donated to The American Heart Association and The American Diabetes Association.
Thank you for taking time to learn about me and my husband. All of your donations are greatly appreciated.
Peace and Blessings
