The Drains to Ocean Team is excited to announce our latest creation: D2O Ocean Safe Sunscreen & our "It Takes A Village" online cleanup HUB. Our new sunscreen was inspired by 9-year-old Olivia, a local of Huntington Beach, California who was determined to make a difference in protecting our coral reefs. After writing a school report on the impact humans have on these ecosystems, Olivia started a fundraiser and donated every penny to Drains to Ocean. With her donations, we were inspired to create the new D2O Ocean Safe Sunscreen in partnership with our friends at Avasol.
Our Ocean Safe Sunscreen is made with 100% bio-based packaging, organic raw ingredients, and has an SPF50 rating, providing broad-spectrum protection from UVA and UVB rays. It is suitable for use on both skin and lips and is free of any harmful chemicals. A portion of the proceeds from every sale goes towards a scholarship fund for Olivia's education.
We are also launching a new program on our website called "It Takes a Village Cleanup HUB (ITAV)," an online app where anyone in the United States (and eventually, the world) can create and lead their own beach, neighborhood, or park cleanups. With the help of this ITAV Cleanup HUB, we hope to educate the public about the importance of using ocean and reef-safe sunscreens, plus make a real impact in our community by removing thousands of pounds of toxic litter from the environment.

Donations will go towards the creation of the ITAV Cleanup HUB plus litter education and the importance of using ocean-safe sunscreens to protect marine life from harmful contaminants found in the garbage that Drains to the Ocean. Litter, including plastic waste, can release toxins into the ocean that can harm or kill marine life. By using eco-friendly products and properly disposing of our trash, we can help reduce the negative impacts on our oceans and the cetaceans & wildlife that call the ocean home.

THE DRAINS TO OCEAN EDUCATION PROGRAM focuses on raising awareness of water pollution. We target cleaning up pollution on our beaches, in our streets, and throughout our waterways. Our goal is to help citizens become more aware of their choices and to take small actions that collectively have a large impact on reducing pollution in our world. We engage the public through community service opportunities, informative presentations, and empowering a local network of active volunteers.
