Over the last 4 years Dragons lacrosse has won 33 major championships. That is quite an accomplishment for a young organization. And our Fire Girls travel program went from 0 to 4 teams in less than a year. In fact, we're the only organization in LA with a full girls travel program from elementary school through high school.
Neither feat could have accomplished without the amazing athletes in our scholarship program. Our scholarship program is very dear to our heart because it allows us to work with and develop players that are incredibly talented but can’t afford the expense of the sport, nor the cost of attending tournaments.
We have started a GoFundMe campaign to raise $9,130 by June 30th to pay for a number of players (boys & girls) in 6th, 7th, 8th and 11th grades to attend 3 tournaments this summer. We are asking for donations of any size to help us out. Below are some examples of how your support helps our players.
$40 will buy breakfast, lunch & dinner for a player for one day
$50 will cover the cost of a girls uniform
$65 will cover the cost of a boys uniform
$110 will cover the tournament fees for one player at most tournaments
$150 will cover the hotel room for one player for 2 nights in places such as Salt Lake City and Oceanside
$175 will cover the airfare for one player to Utah
$200 will cover the hotel room for one player for 2 nights in Denver or Del Mar
$400 will cover the airfare for one player to Denver
$450 will pay for a rental car in Denver to chaperone all our players
$1,500 covers all costs for a player attending Denver, Oceanside and Utah
You can see how the costs add up for 3 tournaments and this many players. But at the same time, even $40 makes a difference and helps achieve a specific goal. This summer fundraiser is part of our annual effort to raise $20,000 to support our scholarship athletes. Any funds collected in excess of the $9,130 target will go towards the annual target.
We really need your help in supporting our athletes to make it possible for them to play, and for them to make a difference on your teams. And yes, by helping us support our scholarship athletes, you are supporting your own players by making every team stronger! Our scholarship program increases our chances of winning, plain and simple, and it opens up opportunities and creates life lessons along the way for everyone involved. We probably have one of the most extensive scholarship programs of any travel lacrosse program in LA and your involvement is what helps make our program different. It allows you to be part of a bigger story than just playing lacrosse. You are helping to transform player’s lives and enrich your player’s own experience! Let’s make this a special summer!
All donations are tax-deductible and we can issue receipts. And if you would rather make a direct contribution offline, we can work that out as well.
