Dragonfly Community Mural Project
Dragonfly Art Studio is a Santa Fe based art facility for youth ages 5 to 15. Every summer we welcome hundreds of youth in weekly summer camps that explore themes such as native arts, Japanese arts, NM arts, printmaking, sketching and painting, sculpture, and many others. During the week of July 4th, we worked with a group of 30+ youth exploring the theme of "Street Arts".
We were so fortunate to receive permission from a property owner in a neighborhood near the studio to create a HUGE mural. The wall is along a highly trafficked alleyway that connects Santa Cruz street with Santa Rosa Drive. The space is nearly 200 feet long and about 8 feet high. During our Street Arts week, we invited the kids and several experienced muralists to create the design and begin painting. Moving forward, other artists and community members will be contributing their time to help complete the painting.
We're so excited to help beautify the neighborhood and for the work of the youth to be represented - but we need your help. We need to cover the cost of supplies and funds to pay for the hard work and long hours expected to be done by the expert muralists. Any funds remaining after everything is covered will go to our scholarship fund for youth to attend summer art camps and workshops throughout the year.
Our professional artists first prepared the wall with a background where the kids could overlay their images. Pictured here are Pete Gardini, Gary Myers, and Pablo Ancona.

Then the kids added their images.
And the project still requires more time, work, and financial help. All your support is beneficial… We welcome your donations, invite you to share this fundraiser page, and appreciate all your support to help this opportunity and vision come to fruition.
Thanks!
