DRAGGED BY CAR. RAN OVER BY TRUCK. LEFT BY BOTH.

My name is Renee. My family and I are raising money for my oldest child, my only daughter, Jacklyn. Jacklyn has long been the rock in our family, always the first to step up when times were tough. Anyone that has ever met her knows that Jacklyn is truly a beautiful human- inside and outside; she is smart, kind, creative, and generous. Her life has not always been the easiest but she has managed to show great strength despite many obstacles, and has never given up her drive to build the best life possible for herself and those around her. Our love for Jacklyn is immeasurable, and her dad, 3 younger brothers and I, along with many amazing friends and family members, will be here every step of her recovery. Nonetheless, this will be impossible to achieve, financially, without turning outside that circle and humbly asking for help.

We are launching this GoFundMe campaign today, on the eve of Jacklyn's 25th birthday, in hopes that she will wake up tomorrow surrounded by positive vibes, and a spirit of generosity that helps her have a brighter outlook for her future, as she lost so much so quickly.

On the night of May 19th, the LTPD knocked on our door, handed me a card with the EHT police phone number on it, and informed me that Jacklyn had been in a serious motor vehicle accident, and to contact them immediately. Upon doing so we were told that she had suffered "serious bodily harm" and to get to the hospital immediately. When asked if she survived I was told "she was alive when she was brought in."

Upon arrival, we were confused because we'd been told that it was a car accident, so naturally we'd assumed it was a car crash wherein she had been either the driver or passenger; her injuries did not seem consistent with that. What the doctor told us was even worse and a situation that we cannot actually grasp despite several weeks having passed.

The attending physician informed us that a situation had occurred earlier that evening as Jacklyn and another person were returning from a restaurant. An argument in the vehicle turned physical and she called 911, at which point her phone was thrown out of the car window. She got out to get it and when she returned to the vehicle, the occupant gunned the gas as she begged to be let back into the car, dragging Jacklyn across the asphalt and into the intersection, before leaving her there. She lay there, fading in and out of consciousness, for no more than 30 seconds, before a lifted-up pick-up truck ran her over, throwing her body into the nearby grass; then they, too, fled the scene.

Jacklyn was found in the grass, on the side of the road, fighting for her life. She was only able to give the EMT's her first name before going unconscious again and entered the hospital as a Jane Doe until her identification was located. She was immediately intubated and placed in a medical coma until she could breathe on her own two days later. A higher power was surely watching over Jacklyn that night because the doctors said it was truly miraculous she even survived both incidents.

Amongst her myriad injuries are a concussion; four herniated discs; spinal and neck injuries; whiplash; fractured dental palette, fractured orbital bones, fractured Maxilla, fractured jaw; broken nose with gravel embedded under the skin; nerve damage to her right eye; injuries to both arms; loss of feeling in lower & upper extremities; as well as extensive damage to her teeth including avulsed teeth, missing, loose and broken teeth, and teeth lodged into her gum and palette. The emotional damages far exceed any of the physical damages she sustained, and the effects of this incident will be long-lasting.

While she is both extremely lucky and thankful to be alive, the road to recovery will be long and painful. It will also be ridiculously expensive even with medical insurance. We are asking for your help in raising money to offset extraordinary medical costs associated with both her hospitalization, ongoing treatment from no less than 9 specialists, months of physical, occupational and speech therapy, and at least six upcoming surgeries, which, alone, are estimated to cost upwards of $350K. We are also looking to raise money for future permanent housing, as this situation displaced her. Lastly, we are hoping to raise money to help substitute income lost due to her being rendered unable to work for the foreseeable future; although she will be approved for temporary disability through the state sometime in the near future, it is not comparable to her usual income, her expenses have now greatly increased, and there is a waiting period before she will even start receiving these payments.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and kindness in helping make Jacklyn's recovery less stressful by not having to worry so much about finances, allowing her to focus on what is truly the most important thing right now: HEALING <3

Note: Due to the ongoing legal aspects of the situation we are not able to provide a great deal of detail but will be happy to answer anyone's questions or provide verification of what occured, should you want either.
