Drachenfest Friends

Die letzte Nacht war kurz. Vorfreude und letzte Vorbereitungen haben mich schlecht einschlafen lassen, außerdem bin ich so aufgeregt, daß ich kaum ein Auge zubekommen habe. Noch ein schnelles Frühstück, dann schmeiße ich die letzten Sachen ins Auto und es  geht endlich los. Ich höre bereits zum dritten Mal die Anfangsmusik der Avatare und werde immer aufgeregter.
Jetzt bin ich auf der A 44. Es kommt endlich die Ausfahrt Diemelstadt und die Vorfreude steigt noch mehr. Von weitem kann ich schon den McDonalds sehen. Es sind auch schon andere Drachenfestler erkennbar und ich bin gespannt, wen ich alles treffen werde. Es gibt ein kurzes Hallo und die ersten witzigen Gespräche mit den Freunden über das, was kommen mag. Dann ein letztes „gescheites“ Essen mit ihnen, bevor es aufs Gelände geht. Ich fahre weiter. Jetzt endlich den Quast hoch. Ich bin aufgeregt und platze fast vor Vorfreude und frage mich, wen ich als nächstes treffen werde.

Check-in am Gate? Erledigt! Mit ganz viel Umarmungen und Gelächter und den Versprechungen, daß man sich bestimmt auf dem Gelände trifft.
Wo muß ich nun hin? Okay, das finde ich. Also nichts wie los: ausladen - aufbauen. Noch mehr Freunde wiedersehen, in die Arme schließen und langsam ins Drachenfest-Feeling eingrooven. Ich rieche Lagerfeuer, höre Gitarrenspiel, Gesang, Stimmen und die Trommeln der Orks. Das alles ist die perfekte Untermalung, damit ich mich fühle, wie „zu Hause“. Nun erstmal einrichten und „ankommen“.
Mittwoch abend: Das Eröffnungsritual ist angekündigt und gemeinsam mit den anderen gehe ich zum Ritualkreis. Wir lachen und überlegen, was wohl dieses Jahr alles auf uns zukommen mag. Es beginnt die jedes Jahr aufs neue vorbereitete Show , anschließend gibt es noch eine Ansprache und die Spannung bei allen steigt. Dann kommen die magischen Worte, die uns alle in eine andere Welt schicken: Time In! Die Eröffnungsshow beginnt, endlich kommen die Avatare und es kann losgehen.

Ich bin angekommen. Eingetaucht in meiner Welt.
 
So oder ähnlich kennen wir das Drachenfest schon seit mehr als 15 Jahren. Weder Laser-Sonne noch Schlammageddon waren in der Lage das Drachenfest zu gefährden.
So ein kleines Virus hat es geschafft.
Das Unvorstellbare wurde wahr – in 2020 gibt es kein Drachenfest. Blöd. Ärgerlich. Abgehakt. Dann eben 2021. Hoffen wir…

Immerhin wäre das der 20. Geburtstag des Drachenfestes und den wollen wir doch alle feiern. Gemeinsam. Denn Freunde treffen Freunde.

Freunde HELFEN Freunden – das ist die Aktion, mit der Spenden gesammelt werden, um sicherzustellen, daß der wirtschaftliche Schaden abgemildert werden kann. Um das Drachenfest finanziell zu unterstützen, gibt es bereits einige Möglichkeiten – Der Ticketgegenwert kann gespendet werden, er kann in einen Gutschein umgewandelt werden etc.
Bei dieser Aktion hier geht es um Crowdfunding. Jeder Euro hilft.
Und wir wollen helfen, daß das DF 2021 zumindest finanziell möglich wäre.

The last night was short. Anticipation and final preparations made it difficult for me to fall asleep and I'm so excited that I could barely keep my eyes shut. A quick breakfast now, then I throw the last couple of things in the car and finally I can get started. It´s the third time I've been listening to the avatars' initial music and I'm getting more and more excited.

Now I am on the A 44. The exit Diemelstadt finally comes in sight and the anticipation increases even more. I can see the McDonalds from a distance. There are already other Dragonfest participators recognizable and I am curious who I will meet. There is a short hello and the first exciting conversations with friends about whats about to come and what was last year. Then a last "real" meal with them before going on the premises. I start driving again. Now finally the "Quast". I am excited as I ride up and almost burst with anticipation and I wonder who I will meet next.

Check-in at the gate? Done! With a lot of hugs and laughter and the promises that we will definitely meet somewhere on the battlefield or in the camps. Where do I have to go now? Okay, I will find my way. So let's go: unload - build up.See more friends again, hug them and slowly groove into the dragon festival feeling. I smell campfires, hear guitar playing, singing, voices and the drums of the orcs. All this is the perfect background to make me feel "at home". Now set up and get in the mood.

Wednesday evening: The opening ritual has been announced and together with the others I go to the ritual circle. We laugh and think about what will happen this year. The show upfront, which is prepared every year, begins, then there is a speech and the excitement increases. Then the magic words that send us all into another world are spoken: Time In! The opening show begins, the avatars finally come and we´re ready to go. I´ve arrived. Immersed in my world.

We have known the Dragonfest like this for more than 15 years. Neither laser sun nor mud were able to endanger the Dragonfest that we love so much. A small virus did it. The unimaginable came true - there will be no Dragonfest in 2020. Damn. Annoying. Checked off. Then 2021. Hopefully...
After all, it would be the 20th birthday of the Dragonfest and we all want to celebrate it. Together. Because friends meet friends.

Friends HELPING Friends is the action of collecting donations to ensure that the economic damage can be mitigated. There are already several ways to support the Dragonfest financially - the ticket can be donated, it can be converted into a voucher etc.

This campaign is about crowdfunding. Every euro counts and we want to help that the DF 2021 would at least be financially possible. We need your help for this!
