Hello there! My sweet boy Todd needs surgery for nerve damage to his lower back. He's the sweetest 9-year-old boy who has a lot more years left in him! I really need help funding his surgery and MRI scan.
In 2018 I adopted Todd from an animal shelter in Oregon while I was obtaining my degree at the University of Oregon. He was 4 years old at the time, and his previous owner had abandoned him at the shelter. When I finished my degree, I packed us up and moved back to my hometown in California and we "endured" the impact of COVID together; which was honestly just great bonding time together.
He was my rock throughout college (he was my #1 study buddy) and he has continued to be my rock as I continue to navigate young-adult life. He has SO much more life left in him, he's still very much a kitten at heart, and I can't bear seeing him get worse when I know there's a treatment plan that can heal him.
I've taken him to see 4-5 different vets since noticing his injury (they assume he must have fallen off a high place like his cat tree in a funky way) which was at the end of January. I've had him examined, done x-rays, gotten him medications, and now after seeing a neurologist we're left with an MRI and surgery.
His current state:
- He has "limp tail" meaning he has no control over his tail since nerve damage has occurred. It just drags behind him.
- He struggles to use the bathroom, unable to know when he needs to go since the nerves down there are not firing correctly. He often visits the litterbox 2 or 3 times within a span of 5 minutes.
- His back right leg has a slight limp (vets think he might have fallen on this side) which messes with his balance while walking.
- He's currently taking a painkiller and an anti-inflammatory steroid to help ease the pain.
- He hasn't lost his appetite! I mainly give him wet food to increase his hydration. He's a healthy 12.3 lbs (big boy)
If you are able to donate, Todd and I will forever be grateful to you!
NOTE: If we are unable to raise enough for the procedure, I will 100% be returning the money to all who donate.
