Help with funds to take care of Dad in hospice

Donation protected
Hi everyone!! My name is Katie and I am one of two daughters to our amazing Dad, George Seylaz. If you don't personally know my dad, let me tell you a little about him.
George is not only an amazing father but a fantastic Papa George to his grandson RJ, brother to his siblings Tracey, Lori and Bryan and an awesome friend to so many people. He has been a faithful member to Calvary Temple International for over 20 years and has retired from UPS as a DeIcer at Newark airport for the planes.

Unfortunately, on February of last year, our world as a family was rocked when Dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Cancer- his 3rd battle with cancer Dad has bravely fought each of these battles, continuing to keep his faith in God-which has been and is still inspiring to all of those in his life. Dad had gone thru almost an entire year of chemotherapy and had significant side effects throughout this journey.
At the beginning of this year (2022) Dad, with the full support of his family and the advice of his oncologist, decided to discontinue chemo and was placed in hospice care at home. When he was placed into hospice care, I (Katie) became his full-time caretaker, and have not been able to work at all as a result of this for almost 3 months.

I was working doing Doordash, Shipt, Instacart etc during the entirety of his chemo treatment for the flexibility in my schedule and his chemo- however, as he was placed in hospice, I am no longer able to meet my dad's needs and work outside the home.

For those who aren't aware, we had been fighting for almost a full year for his retirement benefits to include his pension payments and his health insurance- which were approved over the summer. After these were approved, we were then able to finally apply for Medicaid which was just approved after 9 months, last week. Medicaid is effective April 1 of this year- which means we cannot apply for what's called the PPP program, aka the caretaker program funded by Medicaid, in which I would be paid or"hired" essentially, to be his caretaker, until April 1.

After getting information regarding the caretaker(PPP), we were told that we cannot file for an application to this program until Medicaid is effective, (April 1). Unfortunately, the approval for this takes a MINUMUM of 2 months to as long as 6 months- which inevitably means that worst case scenario, I will not have any personal funds coming in with exception to food stamps, for a minumum of 5 months total to a max of 9.

We, first and foremost, appreciate your support and prayers and continue to ask you for them as our family goes thru this difficult season. We have seen God move mountains over and over in our lives, especially thru this journey with Dad's health and we will continue to believe for new miracles. We ask that you donate if able, even a few dollars and share this account on social media.

After calculating the estimated amount needed for the approximate 6 month window of waiting for approval, I created this GoFundMe for the following but not limited to:

Bills to include a shared bills for cell phone plan, car insurance, gas for the car, electric bill, toiletries and other cleaning supplies/misc items as well as things not covered by foodstamps and food/treats/litter for my tribe (service dog and cat)

Please donate what you are able-any amount is certainly appreciated by Dad and my family. But most of all, we appreciate and love your support and prayers.

God bless you,

George and the Seylaz family
