Update: Thank you all so much for your caring, love and generosity! Tammy had a clip put in yesterday so that the Chemo Therapy can be administered effectively. She is in a lot of pain but her spirits are high. I thought I would share a snip it of a thank you on Tammy's behalf... it was written as a thank-you for a donation separate from here but beautifully expresses her thoughts from her heart to all of you:
"On July 15th my world changed forever. On that day I was told That I have Cancer, not just any cancer but basically breast cancer on steroids." "As I listened to health care professionals go through what is to be the next 6 months of my life and explain the cost for treatment, I panicked. Somehow we now had to come up with A lot of money. My mind was reeling and my heart sunk. I thought "Do banks loan people diagnosed with cancer, that will be off work money for such things?". Probably not. No matter, I'll just go back to work and somehow we'll find a way. But I could not work as the stress was all consuming and my doctor insisted I needed all my strength, so that was not to be. My days were filled with worry and a feeling of hopelessness. The darkest of shadows were cast on me and my family and it was all consuming."
"But then something happened that has humbled me and my family. Something unexpected, something inexplicable. LIGHT! A glimmer at first, then a ray transforming into a full blown glow. Darkness cannot live where there is light and for my family that light is you."
"In July, my world changed forever. By August, people who know me stood beside those that have never even heard my name and shone light through to our soul, giving me strength and renewed hope."
"My family and I are so very grateful for friends, strangers and organizations that have given so much love and support."
" I know the beast that is Cancer and its darkness does not stand a chance against the collective light of so many."

You go girl! Kick some cancer butt!
Tammy has just been told she will need a "minimum" of 3 of the shots @ $3000.00 each. She starts treatment August 17th, with the first of those shots sometime in October. The fight for life is expensive indeed. We appreciate all the support and heartfelt wishes sent her way and will keep updating this page through her journey.
Cancer – No one ever wants to hear the word uttered when sitting in a Doctors Office getting results from a Test. Sadly it is a reality for many people. Such is Tammy’s story:
At just 45 years old Tammy’s world is imploding around her. Diagnosed with Grade 3, Triple Negative, Invasive Ductile Carcinoma her battle is just beginning and the fight for an uncertain future is now her reality.
Tammy was raised in BarrHead, AB, moved to Edson for work and has resided in Whitecourt, AB since 2011, accepting a transfer through work to be closer to her family. Both her and her husband are involved as volunteers in WhiteCourt’s local MudBog Association.
Tammy is not totally unfamiliar with the fight for life battling Cancer as she lost both parents to two different types of cancer, her mom to lung cancer and her dad to small cell carcinoma. This makes her own battle all the more scary, knowing how quickly cancer can spread and the personal toll it can take on loved ones.
So what now…. Now comes the endless appointments and trips to the city of Edmonton for treatment. Now comes the worry of not being able to help support her two teenage daughters, with time missed from work. Now comes genetic testing to try and determine where the cancer might show up down the road. Now comes.. getting use to the “new” you… watching your hair fall out, buying wigs, being constantly sick to your stomach, avoiding people so you don’t “catch” something on top of what you have already or rather don’t have… immune system. 18 weeks of treatment, followed by surgery for a double mastosectomy is the bleak prognosis, but maybe, just maybe the chemo will do the trick and there is a slim chance surgery for both breasts might be avoided.
Being told you need treatment to survive is one thing, people have treatment all the time. Being told… your very first treatment is a $3000.00 shot to build your Blood Cells and then finding out it is not covered by Health care, is the first in a long line of financial reality/burdens you have to find a way to cover. Road trips to the city means not only will she be off work but so will her husband, as she cannot drive herself.
Tammy needs financial help to cover travel costs back and forth to the city, to help support her family and to provide life-saving medical treatment not covered by Health care.
Thank you in joining us to Tammy’s Fight for Life!
About the organizer: For those of you who don’t know me. I have worked with Tammy since 2009 when she joined her Corporate family at Baron Oilfield Supply. It has been a pleasure getting to know her and watch her dedication to not only her employer but also to her family. I have organized this campaign on her behalf to help Tammy and her family as they suffer through financial losses while not being able to work, while she battles cancer. This Go-Fund-Me is for her benefit and she alone will have access to the funds. They will cover her costs of living/travel and medical expenses as they arise.( Drugs, Hospital, Transportation, ect. ) Most importantly your support removes the financial stress from Tammy and lets her focus on getting well.
