Dear friends,
As we are grieving the loss of our dad, Dr. Nir, we know our steps forward will be complicated.
To provide context, our house burned to the ground in the fall of 2016. My dad had been negotiating with insurance companies and builders to no avail, and living in an Extended Stay hotel until he passed. We are still in the middle of legal action to hold the builder accountable.
Our father also had a veterinary practice that needs to be handled. At this stage, we are waiting to locate dad's will, which burned in the fire. We are in conversation to retrieve this from the law firm, but until the legal side is resolved, we are unable to pay Maryanne (our dad’s right hand at the practice) for work. Maryanne and my dad worked hand-in-hand for over 30 years. She is our family.
We are primarily raising funds for legal and business expenses. We want to personally take care of Maryanne's wages and severance, outside of the business.
Our fundraising efforts will also go towards one of our dad’s wishes: to have some of his ashes delivered to Israel, and some to Italy. We hope to do this when the pandemic passes.
Any extra funds received will be donated to the Chicago Veterinary Medical Foundation. http://www.chicagovmf.org/support-us
We wanted to express our immense thanks to our dad's friends and community for trusting in him throughout the years.
Thank you,
Nicole, May, and Marina Nir
