Dr. WAH'S Next Adventure

My beautiful dad Alan Hodson, known to many of you as Dr. WAH has been in declining health for the last five years from Alzheimer's Disease. He is 75 years old and I am his youngest daughter and am 28 years old. Navigating his care needs have been a learning process and was made even harder recently.   

I have been working with an attorney to plan care for my dad and recently due to some very difficult circumstances Alan is essentially homeless and needs 24-hour care immediately. I have found him temporary care but I do not know how I will afford to pay for it or what will happen when this temporary care ends.  

His physician has deemed me POA for Health Care and I'm doing all I can.  

My goal is to raise enough funds to pay the legal fees and provide 24 hour care for my dad.  The medicaid application is in the process of being completed. We are applying for Choices for Care, a Vermont program that provides in-home care in the hope that he will be able to stay in his own home once things are sorted out or be in an appropriate facility that can provide him with the care he needs. 

The Choices for Care program is administered through the Vermont Department of Health.  This program strives to keep seniors at home with live-in caregivers.

His urgent need today is funding for emergency care while I navigate the Medicaid application, physician visits, and meet with area long term care facilities to arrange emergency shelter.
